MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) — Police say two young brothers found at a southwest Ohio motel were beaten by adults over a 22-hour span and so badly injured by the alleged abuse that responding police and doctors were left in tears.
The boys’ 26-year-old mother, a female friend and that woman’s mother are jailed on charges of felonious assault and child endangering.
Middletown police Maj. Mark Hoffman tells the Hamilton-Middletown Journal-News (http://bit.ly/1SOOx1a ) investigators believe the 5- and 6-year-old boys were wrapped in sheets and beaten after one took food.
Police say officers responding Wednesday to a 911 call about an unresponsive child found the younger boy with life-threatening injuries and his seriously injured brother hidden under a blanket. Both were hospitalized.
The women were scheduled for arraignment Friday. It wasn’t clear whether they have attorneys.
