DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A hoax claiming that Limp Bizkit planned to give a concert at an Ohio gas station has rallied many of the band’s fans and left some disappointed.
More than 6,000 people responded on Facebook to an event that said the band was going to play a “Secret Show” at a Dayton Sunoco station on Wednesday night. Police had warned people not to show up.
Some fans made the trip from West Milton, about 20 miles north of Dayton, and were disappointed when they learned that frontman Fred Durst wasn’t making an appearance.
But most didn’t appear to be duped by the fake announcement. Several fans showed up just for the fun of it, with some wearing T-shirts advertising the hoax concert.
The gas station’s management shut it down for the night.
