West Point cadet candidate pleads guilty to sexual assault

WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) — A West Point cadet candidate at the U.S. Military Preparatory School has pleaded guilty to sexual assault.

The West Point public affairs office announced Wednesday that Private Lawrence E. Gore of Cleveland, Ohio, pleaded guilty during a general court-martial on Tuesday.

The military academy said Gore pleaded guilty to five specifications of sexual assault in violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The charges arose from misconduct on multiple occasions in January 2015 involving a classmate at the prep school.

Gore was sentenced to be dishonorably discharged, reduced in grade, and confined for five years.
