Northeast Ohio man pleads guilty to illegal firearm sales

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a northeast Ohio man has pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge related to the sale of 300 guns, including 11 destined for Beirut, Lebanon.

Forty-eight-year-old Timothy Cassinger, of Richfield Township, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Akron to a single count of unlicensed gun dealing and remained free on bond.

His attorney declined to comment.

An affidavit from an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent says Cassinger sold guns online and at gun shows. The affidavit says an undercover ATF agent bought numerous guns from Cassinger, some of which were taken from suspected criminals by police.

Authorities say the Beirut guns were confiscated in Spain and were sold by Cassinger to a man under investigation by ATF and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.
