Police: Couple found dead; husband’s wounds self-inflicted

PATASKALA, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say an elderly husband and wife in Ohio were found fatally shot in their home, and the man’s wounds were self-inflicted.

The Licking County Sheriff’s Office says the couple’s son reported finding his parents’ bodies Saturday evening in separate rooms inside their home in Pataskala, 20 miles east of Columbus. Deputies arrived at the home around 5:30 p.m. and determined 76-year-old Geneva Bowman and 81-year-old Lonnie Bowman both had been shot.

Officials say an initial investigation shows Lonnie Bowman’s wounds were self-inflicted, and there’s no indication anyone else was involved in the shootings.

The investigation is continuing.
