COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The head of Ohio’s judicial advocacy group for the past decade is stepping down from the post.
Mark Schweikert, executive director of the Ohio Judicial Conference since 2006, is also a former Hamilton County Common Pleas Court judge and county court administrator.
Schweikert, who retires in April, said it was a privilege helping Ohio’s judges.
The conference represents more than 700 judges and works to establish judicial policy and express the consensus of judges on issues.
Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor praised Schweikert’s experience and insight into the judiciary.
Schweikert plans to work as a traveling judge by assignment across Ohio. He received his law degree from Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University and was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1980.
