COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Drew Rackley scored 25 points as New Concord John Glenn beat Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary 76-72 in the Division II state championship game Saturday.
Matt Weir gave the Little Muskies (28-1) the lead again with a pair of free throws with 5:42 left after they coughed up a 14-point second half advantage, and John Glenn held on against an active Fighting Irish press.
Weir finished with 18 points while Tanner Slack had 15 for John Glenn, which won its first state title.
The Fighting Irish (26-4) were going for their seventh championship. That would’ve tied Middletown’s record for most in Ohio history.
They were led in scoring by Jayvon Graves, who had 18 points. Henry Baddley tallied 16 point while John Williams had 14 and Dominic Davis added 11.
