LIMA, Ohio (AP) — The mayor is so confident that two Lima (LY’-muh) high schools will win Ohio boys basketball championships that he’s making a friendly wager with two counterparts supporting the Lima teams’ opponents.
The Lima News (http://bit.ly/1QYlRmM ) reports Mayor David Berger has a bet with Wilmington Mayor John Stanforth and St. Bernard Mayor John Estep.
Lima Central Catholic faces St. Bernard Roger Bacon in a Division III semifinal Thursday. Lima Senior plays Wilmington in a semifinal Friday in Division I.
If the Lima teams return from Columbus with state titles, those teams get meals at a hamburger joint courtesy of the losing mayors. If Berger loses, he’ll pay for meals at other eateries for the Wilmington and Roger Bacon teams.
Berger says the bet’s instigator was The Lima News publisher Pamela Stricker.
