Trump CIA pick pledges to be objective intel collector

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump’s pick to run the CIA says he knows he’ll have to make the transition from partisan lawmaker to objective intelligence collector.

That’s what Mike Pompeo — a conservative Kansas congressman — is telling the Senate Intelligence Committee in prepared testimony released before his hearing gets underway Thursday.

Pompeo also says the United States is facing a complicated and broad array of threats today.

The hearing comes as the president-elect and spy agencies are in a testy standoff over the election that has put Trump in power.

Pompeo served on the partisan House committee set up to investigate the deadly attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012.
