In this photo by Achmad Ibrahim, a woman wades through floodwaters on a street in Bekasi, a town just east of Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, on Friday. Heavy downpours combined with poor sewage planning often causes heavy flooding in parts of greater Jakarta. The flood in Bekasi began Thursday and was reportedly the worst in the past nine years. The Bekasi River overflowed its banks and inundated residential areas nearby, with waters reaching 4 meters (13 feet) in some homes.
