The Urbana University department of athletics announced a three-year partnership with Under Armour on Monday, recognizing the global performance brand as the official outfitter of Blue Knight athletics until the summer of 2018. The partnership aligns well with UU’s recent release of its new primary athletic logo.

“We’re very excited and honored to partner with Under Armour as the official brand of Blue Knight athletics,” UU Director of Athletics Larry Cox said. “Under Armour continues to grow and make inroads at the major college level as the recent additions of Notre Dame and Cincinnati clearly demonstrates.”

The new deal will see the Blue Knights annually receive equipment and apparel allowances for their sports teams, as well as promotional signage to display during home athletic events. Team Sports will administer the three-year deal.

“Under Armour is setting a new standard for footwear and apparel both in terms of quality and marketability,” Cox said. “Our affiliation will enhance and promote our overall departmental image, while also improving the entire student-athlete experience. This agreement allows our programs to take advantage of Under Armour’s innovation, resources and unparalleled drive for student-athlete success.”

Under Armour is currently represented in each Power 5 Conference and also has endorsement deals with popular professional athletes, including two-time PGA major championship winner Jordan Spieth and 2014-15 NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry.
