Smith, Roush win at Shady Bowl

DeGRAFF — Saturday night, fans were treated to a great night of racing at Shady Bowl Speedway. A strong field of cars was on hand and a Meet and Greet session was provided at intermission for the fans.

In racing action, the Late Models saw Urbana’s Mike Ward take the lead for the first seven laps before Quincy’s Josh Smith decided to make a move. Smith went on to claim the win. Brad Coons and Buck Purtee took the heat wins. Smith was also the fast qualifier.

In the Modified action, Mike Carroll of Kettering led the first 29 laps, only to see Brad Yelton of Bellefontaine get past Carroll to claim the victory. Jamie Sites of Tipp City was the fast qualifier, with Chris Parker winning the dash and Mike Carroll and Rob Yelton taking the heat wins.

Street stock action was just as exciting as the Modifieds, as Buck Purtee of DeGraff led the first 24 laps only to be passed by Jacob Muncy of Columbus to claim the win. Muncy was the fast qualifier. Dillon Snapp claimed the dash win, with Buck Purtee and Rex Purtee claiming heat wins.

Compacts were also on hand, with Larry Adams claiming the feature win. Chris Lucas took the first 5 counters with Zach Doolin taking over only to be passed by Adams on lap 15. Adams was also fast qualifier. Dash win went to Doolin and heat win went to Chris Lucas.

In Tuner action, Rodney Roush claimed another feature win for the year. Austin Eaton led the first 3 laps only to give way to Roush. Terry Eaton, Jr. was the fast qualifier. Roush also took the dash win, with Justin Pope claiming the heat win.

This Saturday will be the Roger Roush Classic.

Roush, a long time mechanic, driver and car owner will be on hand to honor his years of hard work and dedication to the sport of Auto Racing. The Street Stocks will run 47 laps with $1,007 going to the winner. Also on hand will be Late Models, Modifieds, Tuners, Compacts and Pure Stocks. This will also be DARF night for all active DARF members. Members will be admitted free with a current membership card. Racing starts at 7 p.m.
