Rains wins again at Shady Bowl Speedway

DeGRAFF – In a now very familiar pattern, Shady Bowl Speedway was forced to cancel its scheduled racing program Saturday night. Heavy rains that fell Friday night and Saturday morning left the facility too wet to race on.

The Neal Sceva Night has been rescheduled for Aug. 19.

This Saturday will be Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club Night (DARF) at the hillside oval.

All current DARF members will be admitted for half price. This offer is for grandstand entrance only and is not valid for pit area.

The Coyote Truck Racing Series will make its debut Saturday.

The series was a division of ARCA before spinning off during the off-season. Shawn Szep of Marysville, the 2016 champion, has won two events this season.

The night will be dedicated to the memory of the late Rick Hensel. Hensel was a track employee for at least 30 years. He passed away last year.

The modifieds, street stocks, pure stocks, compacts and spectator drag cars will also be in action. Racing will start at 7 p.m.

In a schedule change, the late models will return on July 15 with the running of the Denny Shatto Memorial.
