Shady Bowl rained out again

DeGRAFF – It was the same, sad news for local racing fans when Shady Bowl Speedway owner Rick Young was forced to cancel the racing set for tonight.

It marked the fourth time Mother Nature put a stop to the action this season.

“The grounds are just saturated and the temperatures are supposed to drop possibly as low as the 30s,” said Young. “Losing this many races early in the season makes it difficult to reschedule events”

Saturday, May 13, will be “Mothers Day at the Races.” There will be a powder puff race for the moms to compete in.

In addition, late models, modifieds, street stocks, pure stocks, compacts, super compacts and spectator drag racing will be held.

Racing will start at 7 p.m.

Former track champion Josh Smith of Quincy (pictured) will be racing his late model at Shady Bowl Speedway on Saturday, May 13.
