BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Shepherd’s J.J Sarty is the Mountain East Conference Player of the Week, while Urbana University’s Adam Guay is the league’s Pitcher of the Week.

Sarty, a senior from Purcellville, Va., hit .428 (6-for-14) to help lead the Rams to a 4-0 week in a key series against North Division rival West Liberty. He had a hit in all four games and scored five times. He hit a pair of home runs on the weekend, including the game-tying home run in a 2-1 win on Sunday.

Guay, a senior from Carolton, Texas, tossed a complete game (nine innings) in a victory on the hill against Fairmont State to improve to 5-1 on the year.

He gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out five.

Guay has lasted eight innings in each of his last three starts and had just the third nine inning complete game by a Blue Knight in five years.
