UHS wins Todd Foster Memorial

Urbana won the Todd Foster Memorial Baseball Tournament at Bob Brenning Field on Saturday, beating Carroll 5-4 and Northeastern 3-1, to claim the top spot.

Against Carroll, Caleb Peterson stole home in the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie. He also was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI.

Kaleb Bowdle was 2-for-4, Seth Mangus had an RBI and Brayden Fain had an RBI.

Against Northeastern, Peterson and Fain were each 1-for-2. Mangus had an RBI and Noah Ziegler had an RBI.

Todd Foster was a member of Urbana’s 1982 Class AA state championship team.

Triad softball splits

NORTH LEWISBURG – Triad split a pair of non-league softball games with Tecumseh on Saturday, losing 2-1 in nine innings before winning 14-7.

In the first game, Maddy Collier had 14 strikeouts. Triad took a 1-0 lead after three innings, but Tecumseh answered with a run in the top of the fourth.

The game went into extras until the Arrows were finally able to put a run across in the ninth and Triad was unable to answer.

In the second game, Triad poured on the offense, with multiple runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

For the Cardinals, Madison Dolby was 4-for-5 with a double and a triple, Abby Ehrenborg was 3-for-4 with a home run, Brianna Eaton was 2-for-4, Olivia Butz was 2-for-4 and Makenzie Cauley was 2-for-4.

Tigers softball wins

West Liberty-Salem run-ruled Benjamin Logan, 11-0, in five innings of non-league softball on Saturday.

For the Tigers, Kelsey Day was 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of triples and 3 RBI. She also got the win pitching.

Mady Stratton was 2-for-2 with a pair of triples and 3 RBI, Hallie Strapp was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, Kiana Reames had a double and an RBI, Kenedie Cox was 2-for-4 and Olivia Ames was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

MHS baseball wins big

SIDNEY – Mechanicsburg blasted Fairlawn, 23-2, in five innings of non-league baseball on Saturday. The Indians recorded 23 hits in the rout.

For the Indians, Abrahm Shelton was 4-for-6 with 4 RBI, Logan Hurst was 4-for-5 with 4 RBI and Caleb Newsome was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and 3 RBI.

Dylan Hartman got the win, striking out four batters and allowing three hits.

M’burg (10-4) hosts West Liberty-Salem today.

WL-S track at Bulldog Classic

West Liberty-Salem competed at Milton-Union’s Bulldog Classic track and field competition on Saturday.

The girls

The boys were 9th, with Alex Fitzpatrick finishing second in the high jump (5-06). Christian Parker was third in the 100 (11.72).

Cole wins for Triad

Triad track and field competed at Waynesfield-Goshen on Saturday.

Holly Cole won the 3,200 and finished third in the 1600 for the Cardinals.

JH track

Mechanicsburg hosted a 12-team junior high track meet, with the boys finishing 5th and the girls 9th.

Chayse Propst won the 100 and 200 dashes for the Indians.

For the girls, Elyse Wilson was the high finisher, taking second in the pole vault.
