Triad boys defeat Yellow Springs in OT

Triad defeated Yellow Springs, 57-54, in overtime Saturday in non-league boys basketball.

Ryan Boyd had 17 points, Colby Watson scored 16 and Hadley LeVan added 11 for the Cardinals.

LeVan was fouled beyond the arc and made all three free throws with four seconds left to take the game to overtime, where the Cardinals were able to pull out the win.

Triad plays at Northeastern on Tuesday.

Tigers roll Irish

West Liberty-Salem defeated Springfield Catholic Central, 52-16, in OHC girls basketball on Saturday.

Lily Yoder scored 14 points and Taylor Lauck had 9 points for the Tigers.

WL-S (15-2, 10-0) plays at Cedarville on Thursday.

Raiders down Falcons

BELLEFONTAINE – Benjamin Logan defeated Graham, 92-38, in girls CBC/MRD basketball on Saturday.

Graham (4-12) plays at Greenon on Wednesday.

Hillclimbers lose on road

SPRINGFIELD – Northwestern defeated Urbana, 58-39, in girls CBC/MRD basketball on Saturday.

Katy Curnutte led the Hillclimbers with 21 points – including going 10-of-10 at the free throw line – while Natalie Seeberg added 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Urbana (7-12) hosts Benjamin Logan on Wednesday.

Junior high basketball

The WL-S 8th grade girls beat Triad, 31-19, in the tournament. Alex Burton had 9 points, 10 rebounds and 8 steals for the Tigers. Triad’s Kendall Hughes had 9 points.

WL-S hosts the second round of the OHC tournament on Tuesday. The 7th grade team plays at 5 p.m. followed by the 8th grade at 6:30 p.m.

The Urbana 7th grade boys beat Riverside, 35-32. Nolan Smith had 16 points and Davis Seeberg had 8 rebounds for UJHS.

The Urbana 8th graders won, 57-14. Isaiah Fonseca had 16 points, with Grant Hower adding 15 points and 11 rebounds for UJHS.

The Graham 7th grade girls defeated Northwestern, 24-4. Ariel Cupps had 7 points for Graham.
