Urbana Youth Sports baseball and softball registrations are due without a late fee by this Friday, March 17. After Friday, registrations not completed at the equipment swap (see below) will incur a $10 late fee. Registrations close completely on March 24.

On Saturday from noon to 2 p.m., UYS will have a “play it forward” equipment swap and last call for registrations at the Urbana Youth Sports building at the park. Parents and players alike are encouraged to bring gently used baseball, softball, football and soccer equipment to the UYS building between noon and 2 p.m. Equipment needed most includes cleats, shin guards, bats, gloves, balls, equipment bags, helmets and masks. In addition, any player needing equipment for the 2017 season(s) can come look through what is available and take what they need. A computer will also be available for last call registrations. The late fee will be waived for those who come to the park that day.

UU DH cancelled

Urbana University Head Softball Coach Kira Zeiter announced this week’s home doubleheader against Ashland has now been cancelled due to more inclement weather in the forecast. A make-up date has not been announced.

UU (3-5) will attempt to play a pair of road doubleheaders this weekend against West Liberty and Wheeling Jesuit. Right now, those games are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday but UU fans traveling to support the Blue Knights should stay tuned for more possible schedule alterations.
