Indians sweep Southeastern in bowling

The Mechanicsburg girls bowling team defeated Southeastern, 2,202-1,624, in OHC action on Monday.

For the Indians (12-1, 5-0), Ally Hosier had a 218-186 for a 404, Miranda Keene a 173-161 for a 334, Skyler Herron a 178-201 for a 379, Madison Boggs a 155-133 for a 288 and Amanda Coulter a 154-125 for a 279.

The Mechanicsburg boys won, 2,557-1,957.

For the Indians, Preston Estep had a 211-188-399 series, Jake Ripley a 200-215-415 series, Caleb Westfall a 227-247-474 series, Peyton O’Laughlin a 158-160-318 series, David McMahill a 145 and Aiden Shelton a 190.

9th grade basketball

The West Liberty-Salem girls lost to Anna, 33-13. Camrin Rice and Mya King each had 5 points for the Tigers.

JH basketball

Mechanicsburg’s 8th grade girls beat Cedarville, 45-18. For the Indians, Kaylee Warfield had 13 points and Jennifer Wallace added 12.

Mechanicsburg won the 7th grade game, 27-16. For the Indians, Lani Wilhelm had 16 points and Day Rodgers added 5 points and 8 rebounds.

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade boys basketball team improved to 5-2, 5-0 with a 24-18 win over Mechanicsburg. Isaac Brown paced the Tigers with 8 points. Mechanicsburg did not report statistics.

The WL-S 8th grade boys won, 40-24. For the Tigers (5-2, 5-0), Nick Burden had 18 points and Lance Baldwin and Jace Wade each had 6. Mechanicsburg did not report statistics.

Springfield Catholic Central beat Triad, 55-21, in 7th grade boys basketball. For Triad (0-6), Ayden Sanford had 11 points and Gage Phillips had 5.

Triad won the 8th grade boys game, 56-2. For Triad (4-2), Jalen Nott had 16 points, Batai Lease had 8 and Drew Campbell had 7.

Triad’s 8th grade girls defeated Central, 41-37. For Triad (7-2), Baylie Plank had 8 points, Cati LeVan had 8 and Frani LeVan had 19.

In 8th grade girls basketball, Tecumseh beat Urbana, 58-29. For UJHS, Sam Rooney scored 13 points.

Tecumseh won the 7th grade girls game, 56-21. Meleah Murphy scored 13 points for UJHS.

The WL-S seventh grade girls defeated Mechanicsburg, 44-40, OT. Hallie Smith led the Tigers with 14 points and 8 rebounds, Emily Hollar scored 14 points and had 5 steals and Mandilyn Weaver added 13 rebounds.

The WL-S 8th grade girls topped Mechanicsburg, 45-22. Gracie Estes led the Tigers with 16 points and Selena Weaver had a double double of 15 points and 15 rebounds. Sophie Cole chipped in 12 points and 5 steals.
