The West Liberty-Salem wrestling team competed at the Toledo St John’s Jesuit Invitational last Friday.

Leading the Tigers was Ely Serna with a 3rd place finish in the 170-pound weight class. Serna had a 4-1 record with 4 pins. Zayne Reed finished 4th in the 182 class. Reed added three pins for WL-S.

Tanner Workman placed fifth at 126 with a 3-2 record and 2 pins. Isaac Lee also had a 3-2 record and all three of his wins came by pin.

Stickley places 8th

EVANSTON, Ill. – A total of six members of the Wisconsin wrestling team earned spots at the podium at the 54th annual Midlands Championships. The Badgers finished in seventh place with 70.5 points.

Graham High School graduate Eli Stickley, UW’s 133-pounder, finished the tournament in eighth place after scoring 11 team points. He tallied a 16-0 tech fall over Anthony Cefolo of Rider and an 8-2 decision over Buffalo’s Bryan Lantry before dropping his next two matches.
