Covington tops Urbana in girls basketball

CASSTOWN – Covington beat Urbana, 56-34, in non-league girls basketball on Friday.

Covington led, 18-5, at the end of the first quarter and 31-15 at the half.

For the Hillclimbers, Hunter Rogan had 15 points and 9 rebounds, Bridget Ofori had six points and 7 rebounds and Madisyn Horn added 6 rebounds.

WL-S now 9-0

MILFORD CENTER – WL-S improved to 9-0 overall after a 50-26 win over Fairbanks in girls basketball.

The Tigers led, 14-0, at the end of the first quarter and 23-3 at the half.

WL-S owned a 36-18 lead after three stanzas.

For the Tigers, Lily Yoder had a game-high 15 points.

WL-S out-rebounded Fairbanks (3-5), 40-22.

The Tigers won the jayvee game, 41-24. Camrin Rice had 12 points for WL-S.

JH basketball

The WL-S 8th grade boys defeated Northeastern, 54-49, in OT. The Tigers (3-1) were led by Nick Burden with 20 points and Jace Wade added 16.

The Urbana 7th grade boys lost to Ben Logan, 26-16.
