Mechanicsburg boys beat Gahanna Christian

MECHANICSBURG – Mechanicsburg defeated Gahanna Christian, 79-42, in non-league boys basketball on Monday.

Bobby Welch had 18 points, Joey Butsch scored 14 and Mack Cushman added 12 for the Indians.

M’burg took a commanding 30-16 lead at halftime and cruised in the second half, expanding its lead.

Mechanicsburg plays at Cedarville on Friday.

M’burg bowlers lose close matches

The Mechanicburg girls bowling team lost to Springfield on Monday, 2,452-2,399.

For the Lady Indians, Ally Hosier had a 223-200/423, Michaela Edwards had a 179-165/344, Lauren Mayberry had a 171-173/344 and Katie Bush rolled a 169-162/331. Jenna Alspaugh recorded a 142 and Miranda Keene had a 129.

The Mechanicsburg girls jayvee team won, 1,873-1,161.

The Mechanicsburg boys team lost to Springfield, 659-2,647.

For the Indians, Cody Minor rolled games of 227 and 219 for a 446 series. Caleb Westfall had a 197-187/384, Jake Ripley rolled a 176-191/367, Ross Parsons rolled a 180-186/366 and Preston Estep added a 183-183/366.

The Mechanicsburg boys jayvee team won, 1,874-1,686.

Junior high basketball

The Urbana 7th grade girls beat Ben Logan, 26-17.

The Urbana 8th graders lost, 41-13.

Triad’s 7th grade girls beat Cedarville, 29-21. For Triad (8-3), Frani Levan had 12 points and Cati LeVan had 11.

Triad’s 8th graders lost, 45-19. For Triad (2-9), Sidney Louck had 9 points and Kendell Hughes had 6.

The WL-S 7th grade boys beat Greeneview, 47-25. The Tigers (10-1) were led by Nick Burden with 11 points and Tanner Le Van had 9.

The WL-S 8th grade boys defeated Greeneview, 48-34. For the Tigers (9-2), Ethan Cole had 22 points, Matthew Loffing added 12 and Eli McGill had 7.

The WL-S 7th grade girls defeated Greeneview, 18-8. Sophie Cole had 6 points and Gracie Estes had 5 for the Tigers (11-2).

The WL-S 8th grade girls lost, 20-14. For the Tigers (8-5), Riley Brown had 4 points.
