Curnutte leads Urbana girls to victory

Katy Curnutte had 30 points and 10 rebounds as Urbana defeated visiting Piqua, 47-32, in non-league girls basketball on Monday.

For the Hillclimbers (4-8), Madisyn Horn had 7 points and 9 rebounds and Natalie Seeberg added 6 points and 11 rebounds.

Piqua won the jayvee game, 39-13. Marissa Horn had 7 points for UHS.

M’burg girls lose

MECHANICSBURG – Botkins beat Mechanicsburg, 65-46, in non-league girls basketball on Monday.

The Indians trailed, 31-17, at the half.

For Mechanicsburg (2-9), Elly Schipfer had 20 points 13 rebounds and Mikayla Dodane added 18 points and 5 assists.

Junior high basketball

The WL-S 8th grade boys basketball team lost to Anna, 63-27. The Tigers were led by Ethan Larson with 14 points and Trevor Woodruff with 6.

WL-S defeated Catholic Central, 57-23. The Tigers were led by Ethan Cole’s 12 points and Woodruff’s 10.

The WL-S 7th grade boys won, 61-18. Nick Burden had 13 points while Tanner LeVan and Lance Baldwin added 11 each for the Tigers.

The Triad 7th grade girls beat South Vienna, 65-3. For Triad (7-2), Frani LeVan had 22 points, Cati LeVan had 19 and Baylie Plank had 16.

Triad’s 8th graders won, 34-8. For Triad (2-7), Kendell Hughes had 17 points and Sidney Louck had 8.

UHS at Flying to the Hoop

The Urbana boys basketball team will be playing Dayton Carroll in the prestigious Flying to the Hoop basketball showcase on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. at Trent Arena in Kettering.

This event normally sells out, so to be sure to get a seat, purchase a presale ticket from the Urbana Athletic Department.

Tickets are on sale during normal business hours and at halftime of home boys basketball games. Adult tickets are $15 and student tickets are $8 each.
