WL-S boys defeat Catholic Central, 61-47

WEST LIBERTY – WL-S defeated Springfield Catholic Central, 61-47, in OHC boys basketball on Tuesday.

The Tigers (5-2, 4-0) were led by Kannon Stillings’ 19 points, with Austin Miller chipping in 12.

In the jayvee game, WL-S won 47-43 in overtime. Trevor Burden had 14 points and Cody King had 11 for the Tigers.

WL-S plays at Triad on Dec. 29.

M’burg girls fall

SIDNEY – Fairlawn defeated Mechanicsburg, 56-47, in non-league girls basketball.

Mikayla Dodane had 19 points and Elly Schipfer had 18 for the Indians.

Mechanicsburg fell behind early before rallying to pull within a bucket going into the fourth quarter, where Fairlawn out-scored the visitors, 18-11.

The Indians play at Catholic Central on Jan. 7.

WL-S wins in bowling

WL-S nipped Northeastern, 2,395-2,384, in OHC boys bowling.

Scores for the Tigers were Gage Rudasill 216, Brad Burt 193, Justin Salyers 161, Reese Shafer 181 and Mike Price 177.

Junior high basketball

On Saturday, Triad’s junior high girls teams played at home against WL-S.

Triad’s 7th graders lost, 30-24. For Triad, Frani and Cati LeVan each had 10 points.

Triad’s 8th graders lost, 42-14. For Triad, Sidney Louck had 7 points and Kendell Hughes had 4.

On Monday, Triad traveled to Greeneview.

Triad’s 7th graders won, 37-23. Frani LeVan had 13 points and Baylie Plank had 10 for Triad (5-2).

Triad’s 8th graders lost, 49-10. For Triad (1-7), Kendell Hughes had 5 points.

Graham’s 7th grade girls beat Miami East, 25-22. Michaela Whaley and Ariel Cupps each had 8 points for Graham.

Urbana’s 7th grade girls lost to Tecumseh, 28-16.

Urbana’s 8th graders lost, 53-14.

Urbana’s 7th grade boys lost to Tecumseh, 51-12.

Urbana’s 8th grade boys won, 52-31. Grant Hower had 13 points for UJHS (6-2).
