Pigskin Picks

So close.

So very, very close.

We were only a couple of points away from having another perfect week in our picks, as UU rallied to beat Charleston, 35-34, on Saturday to wreck our quest for perfection.

A 5-1 record for the week is nothing to sneeze at, though, and we are now a cool 44-6 for the season.

Maybe we can find perfection again this last week of the prep regular season.

Tonight’s Games

Graham (2-7) at Urbana (1-8) – Despite the records, this will probably be a close game between teams that are undoubtedly happy the season is about to end.

It’s a tough one to pick, since the squads are so similar.

Our gut feeling is Urbana will win, and we never go against our gut.

We’re going with the Hillclimbers to prevail in a thriller.

WL-S (5-4) at Catholic Central (6-3) – WL-S has a decent chance of landing a playoff berth in Region 24 if it can beat the pesky Irish tonight.

Central has put together a great season considering it has so few players on its roster, and the Tigers have been on fire the last couple of weeks.

We’re picking WL-S to win, although it could be close.

Triad (1-8) at Northeastern (4-5) – Triad has struggled this season under first-year head coach Joe Cardinal, but the future looks like it could be bright.

Tonight, however, we’re going with Northeastern to prevail.

Mechanicsburg (9-0) at Southeastern (3-6) – Mechanicsburg has been awesome this season and Southeastern has not been awesome this season.

We’re picking Mechanicsburg to win by a wide margin.

Saturday’s Game

UVa.-Wise (5-3) at Urbana U. (3-5) – The Blue Knights have played pretty well the past two weeks, going 1-1 in a pair of one-point games.

This contest could be close, but we’re going with UVa.-Wise to prevail.
