Graham girls bowling team has depth

The Graham bowling teams are just kicking off the season, with the girls facing an overflow of athletes.

So many kids came out, in fact, that Coach Robb Carpenter had to form two jayvee teams.

“We have a pretty good class, but it’s just a matter of experience for them,” he said. “I think the girls are going to be able to transition, but it’s going to take a little time.”

Cara Cohn, Kaitlyn VanHoose, Sarah Stagner and Jenna Seibold will form the core of the Falcons’ attack, with Libby Hennings and transfer Erica Atwood joining them.

On the boys’ side, Nathan Evans will assume a leading role.

“He’s definitely our best bowler,” Carpenter said. “He’s going to have to be the leader this year.”

Dalton Oder, Everson Bruce and Brady Oder will all contribute.

“What’s really hurt the boys is that they’ve been inconsistent,” Carpenter said, explaining that he hopes to do more one-on-one coaching with the team this season.

“I expect good things from them. I’m really expecting them to take that big leap this year. All the kids are very coachable.”
