Mechanicsburg football continues to be ranked

COLUMBUS – Mechanicsburg is ranked fifth in Division VI in the latest AP high school football poll.

The Indians (6-0) received 130 points in the poll and trail Kirtland (6-0, 224), Marion Local (5-1, 220), Patrick Henry (6-0, 188) and Cuyahoga Heights (6-0, 150). Rounding out the poll in Division VI are Wynford (6-0), Fort Frye (6-0), Liberty Center (5-1), St. Thomas Aquinas (5-1) and Delphos Jefferson (5-1).

Colerain topped the charts in Division I, while Avon was tops in Division II. Division III featured St. Francis DeSales at number one and Johnstown-Monroe sat atop Division IV. Unbeaten Coldwater ruled atop Division V and Division VII was highlighted by Warren John F. Kennedy.

Mechanicsburg also continues to be rated third in the latest computer playoff poll in Division VI, Region 24.

The top eight teams in each region advance to the playoffs and the top four will host a first-round game.
