DeGRAFF – Shady Bowl Speedway will try once again Saturday to get its points race of the season in the books. The late models (Mike Ward), street stocks (Rodney Roush) and modifieds (Mike Carroll) crowned their season champions two weeks ago. Saturday will see the pure stocks, tuners and compacts crown their champions.

The COLA Late Models will race this week. The new series will race in a 40-lap feature. It will mark the third race for the group this season. Jim Lewis Jr. and Josh Smith have scored wins this season.

It will be the biggest of the season for the compacts as they will be competing in the All-American Compact Challenge. This 100-lap grind pays $1,000 to the top finisher. This will mark the third running of the race, with Rob Sharpe and Larry Adams winning the first two.

The street stocks will join in the night of speed. The 50-lap feature will pay $1,000 to win. A new twist on this event is the cars must only pass a safety inspection. Bodies, engines and weight rules will not apply in this “Run What Ya Brung” race.

The pure stocks, compacts and tuners will be in action as well as the spectator drag races. Racing will begin at 7 p.m.

Shady Bowl will wrap up its 2016 season with a Halloween race on Oct. 22. The Monster Madness night will feature the COLA Late Models, modifieds, street stocks, compacts and spectator drag races. There will also be a Halloween Costume Contest for all ages.
