Urbana lost to visiting Kenton Ridge, 5-0, in CBC girls tennis on Thursday.

The UHS first doubles team of Bri Ussher and Olivia Krieger lost a close match.

Triad volleyball wins

Triad’s volleyball team beat Madison Plains, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20.

For the Cardinals, Jennifer Sizemore had 11 points and Madison Dolby had 17 kills and 12 digs.

Triad won the jayvee match, 25-17, 25-15.

UHS blanks Indian Lake

Urbana defeated Indian Lake, 6-0, in CBC girls soccer on Wednesday.

Cassie James recorded a hat trick and Sam Tracy had a pair of goals with a pair of assists. Shai-Anne Settle scored the remaining goal, while Taje Mack, Madisyn Horn, Maegan Cordell and Telanei Brown each had assists.

WL-S girls fall

The WL-S girls soccer team lost to Greeneview, 1-0, on Thursday in OHC action.

Paige Shafer had 5 saves for the Tigers (7-2, 2-1).

M’burg falls to Fairbanks

Mechanicsburg lost to Fairbanks, 5-2, in girls soccer on Thursday.

For the Indians (6-3), Tori Jacobs had one goal scored and 4 additional shots on goal and Kasey Schipfer had one goal scored and 3 additional shots on goal.

Keeper Morgan Hamby had 21 saves.

CBC golf

In Central Buckeye Conference golf action Thursday, Urbana finished third in the Kenton Trail Division with a 361. William McDavid shot a 78 to finish second as an individual.

Graham was third in the Mad River Division with a 357. Chasen Poole shot an 86 and Jimmy Stickley had an 89 to each finish in the top 10.

Graham’s Poole was named to the First Team in the Mad River Division, while Logan Black, Stickley and Mark Ward all made the Second Team. Andy Milligan was honored with the sportsmanship award.

Urbana’s McDavid was named to the Second Team in the Kenton Trail Division, while Ethan Headlee earned honorable mention. Taylor Armstrong got the sportsmanship award.

OHC golf

At the Ohio Heritage Conference golf tournament on Thursday, the Triad girls finished fourth with a 437 and the Mechanicsburg girls were 8th with a 514.

For Triad, Macy Linscott and Kayleigh Boldman each shot 110. Jess Woodard had a 115, Kallie Smith had a 122 and Jen Pelfrey had a 133.

For M’burg, Ashley Bumgardner had a 118, Dodie Howells shot a 122, Skyler Campbell carded a 135, Madison Boggs had a 139, Kerrigan Cushman carded a 140 and Harley Ferguson added a 142.

On the boys’ side, Mechanicsburg finished second in the north division with a 351.

Caleb Westfall had an 80 and Keane Dunn shot an 89. Corey Bogan had a 91, Jack Shoemaker a 91, David McMahill a 114 and Bradley Butsch a 134.

Mechanicsburg defeated Greeneview, 158-160, in boys golf Wednesday. Caleb Westfall and David McMahill were the match medalists, each shooting a 37.

M’burg competes at the sectional tournament on Tuesday.

Ohio Caverns Invitational

West Liberty-Salem will host the 44th Annual Ohio Caverns Max Evans Memorial Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. with the alumni run, which is open to the public. Race entry is $10. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers, both male and female.

The high school races will begin at 10 a.m. with the boys and the girls to follow.
