Pigskin Picks

Yes, it’s true, Urbana University smacked us down again.

Last week, we picked UU to prevail against a winless team for the second time this season, and for the second time, UU lost to a winless team.

We guessed correctly on all the high school games, so we went 4-1 last week to improve to 44-11 for the season.

The prep playoffs have arrived, and the picks keep on coming.

Saturday’s Games

Williamsburg (8-2) at Mechanicsburg (10-0) – The second-seeded Indians have put together one of the greatest seasons in school history, and the only thing that seems to be standing between Mechanicsburg and an appearance in the state tournament is top-seeded Marion Local.

This “Battle of the Burgs” probably won’t be much of a battle at all.

We’re picking Mechanicsburg to win.

WL-S (8-2) at Cincinnati Country Day (9-1) – The Tigers have had a good season, even though they have lost two games.

WL-S’s defense has looked suspect at times, although it seems to be playing its best as the post-season begins.

CCD has a shiny 9-1 record, but it hasn’t played a very strong schedule so we’re not all that impressed.

We’re going with WL-S to prevail.

Notre Dame College (3-6) at Urbana U. (2-7) – UU hasn’t exactly had a great season, but that was probably to be expected considering first-year head coach Tyler Haines didn’t get the job until after spring practice had already occurred.

UU hasn’t played well at home at all, so with this being a home game, we’re picking Notre Dame College to win.
