Urbana prevails in volleyball

Urbana beat visiting Springfield Catholic Central, 25-27, 25-21, 13-25, 25-19, 15-12, on Thursday in non-league volleyball.

For Urbana (2-1), Hunter Rogan had 37 kills and 16 digs, Taylor Adams had 49 assists and 16 digs, Olivia Dunham had 27 digs, Bridget Ofori had 3 blocks and 3 kills and Mackenzie Bean added 11 kills.

Urbana’s jayvees lost, 19-25, 25-20, 26-24.

For UHS, Maddy Johnson had 8 aces and 5 kills, Gracie Troyer had 11 assists and 9 digs, Jennah Adams had 10 digs and Jessica Murray had 10 digs and 4 kills.

Cardinals record comeback win

Triad varsity volleyball came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Ridgemont in 5 sets: 23-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-13, 15-7.

For the Cardinals, Madison Dolby had 17 kills, 12 assists and 8 digs, Bri Eaton had 9 kills, Caleigh Watson had 16 assists and 19 points, Ali Dixon had 10 digs and 13 points, Kayleigh Rice had 8 digs, Sydney Propst had 6 digs and Jenny Sizemore had 13 points.

The Triad jayvees won 25-21, 25-11.

Tigers top Cardinals in golf

Triad lost to West Liberty-Salem at Woodland, 160-185, in OHC boys golf.

Triad (0-5 OHC) was led by Caleb Young’s 42. Braxton Perry had a 46, Alec Ober shot a 48 and Creighton Bradley added a 49.

For WL-S, Kannon Stillings shot a 35, Dillon Callicoat had a 38, Max Eggleston had a 39 and Logan Brown shot 48.

Triad’s jayvees were defeated via a fifth-man tiebreaker, 223-223. Triad was led by Austin Deere’s 51.

Triad will face Catholic Central on Tuesday at Woodland.

Indians golfers win

Mechanicsburg defeated Cedarville, 168-182, in OHC boys golf at Locust Hills on Wednesday.

Caleb Westfall shot 34 to lead the charge for M’burg. Corey Bogan had a 43, Keane Dunn shot 45, Jack Shoemaker carded a 46, David McMahill had a 52 and Trent Huemmer recorded a 79.

Mechanicsburg (20-5, 2-1 OHC) will host Milton-Union on Monday.

UHS falls in soccer

Visiting Piqua beat Urbana, 1-0, in non-league boys soccer on Thursday.

Junior high football

Fairbanks beat Triad, 38-6, in junior high football on Thursday.

Hayden Simpson had 63 yards on 9 carries, including a 36-yard touchdown. Hayden Phillips was 5-for-7 passing for 71 yards.
