Pigskin Picks

If only we had known UU starting quarterback Cale Burdyshaw was going to be out of the lineup last Saturday, we probably wouldn’t have picked the Blue Knights to defeat Fairmont State.

We didn’t know, and it cost us a perfect week, as we went 4-1 in our picks to improve to 25-8 for the season.

Oh well, that’s just the way the proverbial ball bounces.

Maybe we can get back to perfection this week.

Tonight’s Games

Urbana (2-4) at Ben Logan (3-3) – This game is probably a toss-up.

Ben Logan has actually played better on the road (3-1) than at home (0-2), and UHS keeps improving each week.

In spite of all that, we’re going with Ben Logan to prevail by a hair.

Springfield Catholic Central (3-3) at Mechanicsburg (6-0) – The Indians are coming off a 44-0 win over rival WL-S, but we doubt the Indians will have much of a letdown this week.

We’re picking Mechanicsburg to win.

WL-S (4-2) at Cedarville (1-5) – The Tigers are probably pretty darned angry after losing by 44 points at home to M’burg.

That doesn’t bode well for Cedarville.

We’re going with WL-S to prevail.

Triad (2-4) at Southeastern (2-4) – Triad is better than its 2-4 record would indicate, but we’d guess that Southeastern is a legit 2-4 team.

We’re picking the Cardinals to win.

Graham (1-5) at Greenon (0-6) – Graham has suffered through a tough schedule so far, but things get much, much easier tonight against a Greenon team that loses by an average of 48 points per game.

We’re going with Graham to prevail.

Saturday’s Game

UU (1-4) at Lake Erie (1-4) – The Blue Knights had absolutely no offense last week in a 6-0 homecoming loss to Fairmont State.

In fact, UU had minus-3 total yards … and that’s not a typo.

We’re picking Lake Erie to win.
