McDaniel to play soccer at Baldwin Wallace

West Liberty-Salem soccer player Cole McDaniel has verbally committed to play next fall at Baldwin Wallace.

McDaniel is a 4-year varsity starter for the Tigers and has scored 18 goals and tallied 14 assists this season.

He also plays for FC42 out of Ostrander, and is a certified USSF referee who has volunteered to teach local youth about soccer.

McDaniel intends to major in broadcasting/mass communications and minor in business at Baldwin Wallace.

WL-S boys fall

The West Liberty-Salem boys soccer team lost to fourth-ranked Greeneview, 7-0, in OHC action. Elias Kirker-Napiorkowski had 13 saves in goal for WL-S.

The Tigers are currently 8-5-1 overall and play at Newton on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Junior high football

The WL-S 7th grade football team beat Ben Logan, 20-8.

Nick Burden had a 1-yard touchdown run and threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Tanner LeVan. Burden also threw a 2-point conversion pass to LeVan. Jace Wade completed the scoring for the Tigers with a 7-yard touchdown run.

Isaiah McGill led the defense with 2 sacks, while Cooper Havens had a sack and Jake Wilcoxon had a key fumble recovery.

In 8th grade football, Kenton Ridge beat Graham, 20-0.
