Urbana girls top Graham, 3-1, in soccer

Urbana beat Graham, 3-1, in CBC girls soccer on Wednesday.

In the first half, Urbana’s Cassie James scored at 33:13 assisted by Jenifer Tracy and James added another goal at 3:00 assisted by Madisyn Horn

Sara Lingrell had 4 saves in goal for Urbana.

“Tonight’s game was a total team effort,” said UHS Coach Brandon Deskins. “Every player did her job tonight and we played with intensity and heart in a very physical game. I am very proud of the girls tonight.”

Graham won the jayvee game, 5-0.

WL-S wins in volleyball

The WL-S volleyball team defeated Springfield Catholic Central, 25-20, 25-15, 25-23, in OHC action.

For the Tigers (13-3), Jamie Peterson had 28 kills, 2 solo blocks and 8 digs, Tory Cordell had 12 kills, Kylie Gilroy had 39 assists and 2 ace serves, Olivia Ames had 13 digs, 2 ace serves and 14 serve receptions and Kelby Strapp had 9 digs.

Urbana falls to Northwestern

Northwestern defeated Urbana, 22-25, 25-7, 20-25, 26-24, 15-13 in CBC volleyball on Wednesday.

Hunter Rogan had 14 kills and Kaelyn Bertsch had 11 kills for Urbana.

The UHS jayvee team lost, 29-27, 21-25, 25-21. Megan Ridder had 9 kills.

Urbana’s varsity team (7-8, 3-4 CBC) goes to Vandalia to play Butler on Saturday.

Triad girls do not advance

The Triad girls golf team shot a 467 in the sectional at Stillwater Golf Course on Wednesday but did not advance.

Macy Linscott was a single stroke away from advancing with a 101, followed by Chasity Curton with a 115, Sabrina Thompson with a 120, Jess Woodard with a 131 and Jen Pelfrey with a 145.

Junior high cross country

The WL-S junior high cross country team competed at the Bellefontaine Chieftain Invitational hosted at Southview Park.

The boys placed second. Placers were Noah Smith 1st 11:46; Gavin Harrison 7th 13:06; Cade Clerico 9th 13:18; Hayden Kennedy 10th13:22; Ian Maurice 25th 15:54 and Cody Matthews-Moore 27th 17:18.

The girls won the meet. Placers were Katelyn Stapleton 2nd 12:35; Grace Adams 3rd 12:42; Madison Bahan 4th 12:48; Lydie Moell 9th 14:31; Savannah Weaver 10th 14:36; Aaliyah Speert 13th 14:59; Tory Pawelko 23rd 16:34; Lili Davis 33 17:43; Sailor Levan 35 17:55; Mikaela Holbridge 40 20:08 and Jessie Boy 42 22:17.

The teams will compete Saturday at the Buck Creek Invitational.

Junior high football

The Graham 8th grade football team beat Indian Lake, 26-6.
