WL-S places 3rd at Minster Invitational

MINSTER – The West Liberty-Salem volleyball team (11-3) earned third place at the Minster Varsity Volleyball Invitational on Saturday.

First, the Tigers defeated Botkins in three sets: 25-17, 22-25, 25-19. Jamie Peterson had 20 kills and 3 ace serves, Tory Cordell had 8 kills, Kylie Gilroy had 29 assists and 7 digs, Olivia Ames had 8 digs, 3 ace serves and 17 serve receptions and Emily Schultz had 8 digs.

In their second match, WL-S lost to Marion Pleasant: 17-25, 25-19, 25-12. Peterson had 17 kills and 3 ace serves, Gilroy had 22 assists and 4 kills, Abby Stewart had 4 kills and Ames had 8 digs and 15 serve receptions.

WL-S defeated Russia in two sets: 25-17, 25-20. Peterson had 12 kills and 4 total blocks, Taylor LeVan had 4 kills and one block, Cordell had 4 kills and Gilroy had 21 assists and 3 ace serves.

Graham girls win in soccer

ST. PARIS – The Graham girls soccer team beat Dunbar, 9-0, in non-league action on Saturday.

Graham is now 4-5-2 overall and will play at Urbana on Wednesday.

Junior varsity soccer

Northwestern defeated West Liberty-Salem, 4-0, in girls jayvee soccer. Laura Neer and Rachel McGill each had 7 saves for the Tigers.
