WL-S knocks off Greeneview; Graham falls

JAMESTOWN – Brandon Upton had five touchdown passes and Dusty Moell caught four of them as West Liberty-Salem outlasted Greeneview in a shootout, 52-31, Friday night in OHC football.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but missed on a two-point conversion attempt.

WL-S then surprised the Rams with an on-side kick, which the Tigers recovered.

Moments later, WL-S owned a 12-0 lead.

Greeneview (3-2) cut its deficit to 12-7 early in the second quarter, and later in the period, a Moell kickoff return for a TD gave the visitors a 24-14 lead with 3:52 remaining in the first half.

A 25-yard field goal by Greeneview as time expired in the half cut the WL-S lead to 24-17.

The Tigers opened up a 32-17 lead early in the third quarter, but the Rams came right back and scored to make it 32-24 with 7:36 remaining in the third period.

A Brandon Upton TD pass to Dusty Moell late in the third quarter gave the Tigers a 38-24 lead.

With 11:46 to play in the final period, Greeneview scored on another long run to make it 38-31.

Upton hooked up with Moell from 52 yards out early in the fourth quarter to give the Tigers a 46-31 lead after a successful two-point conversion pass.

A fourth-down stop on Greeneview’s ensuing possession helped seal the Tigers’ win.

WL-S’s Brandon Wolfe scored from five yards out with 3:42 remaining to provide the final margin of victory.

The Tigers (4-1) host unbeaten Mechanicsburg in an OHC showdown next Friday night.

Stebbins 54, Graham 14

ST. PARIS – Unbeaten Stebbins knocked off Graham, 54-14, Friday night in CBC non-divisional football.

Stebbins (5-0) jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

The Falcons (1-4) host Indian Lake next Friday night in the Mad River Division opener.
