DeGRAFF – Shady Bowl Speedway honored another family that has supported the speedway over the years. Saturday night, it was the Roush Family Classic. The night of speed honored the Plain City-based team with a 47-lap street stock feature paying $1,007 to win.

Shawn Stansell of Dayton won the event by holding off the challenges of Jacob Muncy to take the checkered in his Stansell Painting Camaro. Rodney Roush, Chad Brandyberry and Bo Hoelscher rounded out the top five. Muncy set quick time for the 19-car field. Brandyberry won the dash, with heats going to Mike South and Brian Reeser.

The late model main saw Quincy’s Josh Smith in his Creative Tool and Die Chevy take the win. Smith took the lead when early leader Gregg Jackson spun out. Jacob Muncy was second, with John Stroble third, Brad Coons fourth and Russ Bobb fifth. Smith was fast qualifier.

Mike Carroll of Kettering powered by early leader Chris Parker and never looked back as he piloted his Moore Trucking-backed ride to still another feature win. Brad Yelton and Brad Williams finished a close second and third. Parker and Mike Pippin rounded out the top five. Carroll was the dash winner, Aaron Pippin taking the heat win. Williams was fast qualifier.

Terry Eaton of DeGraff widened his point lead in the tuner class as he won the feature. Eaton is sponsored by L&B Auto Service. Justin Pope, Rodney Roush, Eddie Kemp and Les Rhodes rounded out the top five. Terry Eaton was fast qualifier, with Roush taking the dash and Austin Eaton taking the heat checkered.

The compacts ran double features with the second race a qualifier for the 100 lapper in September. Nicholas Meade won the first event and Larry Adams the qualifier race.

Rob Bryant carried the checkered in the pure stock main.

Stock car racing will resume this Saturday with racing at 7 p.m.
