Mechanicsburg girls go 1-1 in soccer

Mechanicsburg defeated Southeastern last week in OHC girls soccer, 10-2.

Senior captain Sydney Hux had 3 goals scored, 9 additional shots on goal and one assist. Senior captain Hayli Jacobs had one goal scored and one additional shot on goal. Senior Scarlett Wiant had 2 shots on goal. Junior captain Emma Lockwood had one goal scored and 2 additional shots on goal. Sophomore Tori Jacobs had 2 goals scored and 3 additional shots on goal. Sophomore Meagan Hux had one shot on goal and one assist. Sophomore Gabby Terry had one shot on goal. Freshman Kameron Loveless had 3 goals scored, 6 additional shots on goal and 2 assists. Senior keeper Chayna Sanford had 8 saves, and sophomore keeper Jenna Alspaugh had 3 saves.

The Indians then lost 5-0 to Graham in non-league soccer on Saturday.

Senior captain Sydney Hux had 4 shots on goal and freshman Kameron Loveless had 2 shots on goal.

Senior keeper Chayna Sanford had 19 saves.

Stats for Graham were not reported.

WL-S jayvee runners in action

The West Liberty-Salem junior varsity boys cross country team competed with the varsity over the weekend.

Jordan Lewis (91st), Tyler Louden (93rd), James Loffing (102nd), Konner Smith (107th), Zavier Esch (131st) and Kannon Stillings (140th) all ran. Everyone except Smith set new personal records for time.

Middle school cross country

The West Liberty-Salem Middle School cross country teams completed at the Columbus Grove Invitational.

The girls finished second out of 28 teams. Grace Adams (5th, 12:50) and Madison Bahan (7th, 12:55) paced the Tigers with top-10 finishes.

Katelyn Stapleton (13th), Payton Umphries (47th) and Lydie Moell (63rd) all scored for the Tigers.

The boys finished 20th out of 35 teams.

Noah Smith was second overall in 11:28. Gavin Harrison (99th), Cade Clerico (105th), Hayden Kennedy (125th) and Ian Maurice (229th) all scored.
