DeGRAFF — It was Snapp Family Night at the races on Saturday at Shady Bowl. The family was honored with a night of speed for their support of Shady Bowl. Quincy driver Josh Smith once again was in victory lane when the checkered flew for the late models. The win was the 6th of the season for Smith in the Smith Motorsports Chevy. Josh credits his father and crew chief Jerry for his success. Jim Lewis, Jr. led the first lap before giving way to Smith. Smith also set a new track record during time trials. Mike Ward, John Stroble, Kenny George and Russ Bobb finished second through fifth.

In modified action, Daniel McPherson led the first three laps before giving way to Rob Yelton. Yelton led the next 14 counters before Mike Carroll took over. Carroll led until lap 27 when fast qualifier Greg Stapleton took over and led the final three laps in his Springhills Auto Parts backed racer. Stapleton, like Smith, says he owes his success to his father Bud. Carroll was second, with Logan McPherson third, Brad Williams fourth and Jerry Stapleton fifth. Carroll carried the checkered for the dash, with heat wins going to Yelton and Jerry Stapleon.

In compact action, Kenny George claimed the top spot in the feature. Larry Kemp led the first eight laps before George sped by to take the win. Fast qualifier Larry Adams, Nicholas Meade, Zack Doolin and Chris Lucas filled out the top five. Meade was the dash winner with Alex George winning the heat.

The tuner feature leader saw Scott Marquis lead the first two laps before Justin Pope took over the lead. Pope led the remaining laps to notch the win. Terry Eaton, Austin Eaton, Matt Jackson and Rodney Roush rounded out the top five. Roush was fast qualifier.

Jacob Muncy won the street stocks.

This Saturday night will be the Roush Family Classic night with racing starting at 7 p.m.
