BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Urbana University’s Damario Brown has been selected as the Mountain East Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.

Brown, a second baseman from Laurel, Miss., had a monster showing in Game 3 of last weekend’s road series at Fairmont State. He went a perfect 4-for-4 with a career-high six RBI and blasted his second home run of the season to guide UU to a 14-4 win and series clinch. Brown also doubled in that contest, finishing the weekend .500 (7-for-14) at the plate with eight total RBIs.

This season has been a breakout campaign for Brown, who leads the Blue Knights in hits (53) and ranks second in runs produced (31) while hitting .351 through 39 games.

Brown is the second Blue Knight to earn the conference Player of the Week award this year. Junior first baseman Brent West took home the weekly honor back on March 14.

UU is gearing up for a crucial seven-game homestand and will return to action Wednesday afternoon against Cedarville. First pitch in the non-conference matchup is set for 4 p.m.
