No respect for flag at Hoopla

0

I am a U.S. Navy veteran and I am sad. I carried the American Flag in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Color Guard that led the Hoopla Parade last Saturday. It was very disappointing to march down the parade route and see many people fail to show respect for the flag as we passed. Many people failed to rise and remove their hats. Maybe they were not able to stand, maybe they were just lazy, maybe they were protesting as many seem to be doing today or maybe they just do not know the proper protocol. It seems more likely to me that they no longer have the national pride that was instilled in most of the older generation by our parents, and that is why I am sad.
