Ebert brings music to Urbana

0

On Saturday, Aug. 28, as I was sitting in the audience watching the rehearsals before the concert for Jan Ebert’s 80th birthday and then listening to the concert, I was struck by how wonderful a birthday party could really be. If only other people would put so much love and time into celebrating their life and the marvelous things they have accomplished. There were a lot of amazing things Jan had accomplished that I had no idea about until I was looking at the pictures she had put together. Then there was the concert! Listening to the music performed by so many people whose lives Jan touched or had somehow touched hers was an incredible experience. I know that I have many splendid memories of times when Jan had moved in and around my life. From Urbana University to the restaurants up town, and who could forget the entire amazing musical experiences that I have had with my husband as he played with the Champaign County Brass Band. I loved bringing in the Christmas season that way. Happy birthday to you Jan, and enjoy the restful time that is moving into your life and remember the music will play on, and when it does I know I will always remember your favorite things when I hear them and think fondly of your 80th birthday party.
