Madison-Champaign ESC Preschool Program moves back to Rt. 68 location

The saying goes “What comes around goes around.” This is definitely true for the ESC (Educational Service Center) Preschool classrooms. After moving from what was called the “Lawnview Child and Family Center” three years ago to Local Intermediate, we have now returned! The move is finally complete and now we are working towards becoming fully operational for the 2016-17 school year.

The preschool program will be condensed to the main hall located at the first entrance to the building (by the flag pole). Special thanks goes to J Stiles, husband of Amy Stiles (one of our wonderful Early Childhood Intervention specialists) for coordinating the move of our two storage sheds and Bair House (our play cabin named in memory of a beloved paraprofessional). Also, a special thanks goes to Tracey Wilson and Missy Sine (case manager and clerical paraprofessional) who assisted greatly in coordinating the move out of Local.

We have many many boxes to unpack but are excited in anticipation of a great school year. Developmental screenings are occurring this summer in preparation for next school year. Please refer any family who has a preschool-age child to our program. We look forward to providing a quality preschool program to all interested Urbana families.

Our phone number remains the same: 937-653-5214. However, in this transition period, families may need to contact Cathy Pappas (preschool supervisor) via her work phone at 937-869-1758. The next developmental screenings are fast approaching – scheduled for June 27 and 28. A Parent Function is slated for July/August to invite the community to view the Preschool Wing. An Open House will be scheduled for enrolled students prior to the start of the school year. Additionally, an agency-wide ESC Open House is slated in October when the entire building will be available for the public to tour.

By the way, though still in their current locations, developmental screenings are also occurring for children within West Liberty (Champaign County residents only), Triad and Mechanicsburg districts. Families are encouraged to use the above phone numbers to learn of programming details and to make screening arrangements.
