0

West Liberty-Salem recently named Cayden Whitman and Gabby Hollar its October Seniors of the Month. Here are their comments:

Cayden Whitman

PARENTS: James and Lana Whitman

School activities and awards: National Honor Society, Link Crew, Quick Recall, Drama Club, and Pages

If I were principal for a day: We’d have a school-wide field trip to Kings Island

Favorite school memory: Hanging out with the band under Friday night lights

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My Mom and Dad, Bill Detrick, Yoda, Thoreau, Walter Mitty, and the teachers at WLS

Because: Each have taught me priceless lessons and continue to support me in everything I do

Lately, I have been reading: Our play for Drama Club, Arsenic and Old Lace

My advice to parents: Here’s a quote that says it all, “The greatest gifts you can give your children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.”

My biggest regret: None

Next year I will be: Attempting to gain some degree at some college somewhere

Advisor: Greg Johnson, MS/HS Principal

Gabby Hollar

PARENTS: Aaron and Kim Hollar

School Activities and Awards: National Honor Society, Student Council, i-Pad Committee, Link Crew, Key Club, soccer, basketball

If I were principal for a day: I’d cancel school for the day.

Favorite school memory: Winning District Title last year in soccer.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: my parents, Jamie Peterson, Steve Locker

Because: My parents are so humble and have always been my biggest supporters, I hope to be like them one day. Jamie is one of my best friends and I look up to her so much because she works hard for her dreams and even when there are obstacles she finds a way to embrace them. Coach Locker helped me become a better person and soccer player.

Lately, I have been reading: Anything and everything that Mr. Lynxwiler has assigned us for homework 🙂

My advice to parents: Always be your kids’ biggest encourager and just be there for them!

My biggest regret: Not finishing my lasagna (if you know you know, if not ask my dad)

Next year I will be: Attending West Virginia University on a soccer scholarship, majoring in Forensic Science and minoring in Spanish.

Advisor: Greg Johnson, MS/HS Principal
