Scrap tires to be collected at fairgrounds Oct. 28

A Scrap Tire Collection will be held 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Champaign County Fairgrounds for county residents. Those delivering tires are asked to use the Park Avenue entrance. Only car and truck tires will be accepted. No rimmed, semi or ag tires please. There is a 10-tire limit unless prior approval is granted by the Champaign Health District, 937-484-1606. Volunteers will be appreciated. The photo shows volunteers at work during a previous tire collection. This event is made possible with a Mosquito Control Grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the assistance of Goshen Park and the municipalities of Urbana, St. Paris, Mechanicsburg and North Lewisburg.
