The Urbana Daily Citizen and Urbana University will host a public forum at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Sara Landess Room in the campus Student Center.

All candidates for Urbana City School board have been invited to attend and state their platforms. Questions from the audience will be accepted after the platform statements are delivered.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Candidates for school board span two ballot slots and four seats on the board. Nine people are vying for three seats: Tim Lacy, James B. Arter, Amy Shaloo Paul, Alyssa Dunham, John Birkhimer, Darrell Thomas, Jeffrey M. Hepp, Nicole Blair and Elizabeth DeWitt. The term for these seats expires Dec. 31, 2021.

Candidates Laura J. Reed and Sarah J. Finch will compete for an open seat, with an unexpired term that ends Dec. 31, 2019. This seat was held by Warren Stevens, who passed away from injuries in a motor vehicle accident in 2016 while serving on the board.
