Volunteer of the Month

Rebecca Robison, the Volunteer of the Month for October, is such an amazing person to be around. She has been volunteering at the YMCA for about 18 years. Many of the staff at the YMCA, as well as members and children, know her by name. She volunteers on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the day care to spend time with and entertain the children. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, she enjoys water fitness classes with other members. When Becki is out and about, she inevitably runs into friends from the YMCA who know her and she gives them a cheerful hello! In the afternoons, she likes to spend time at Our Town Studios in downtown Urbana, operated by Creative Foundations – an agency that supports people with developmental disabilities. While there, she creates art work, socializes with friends, attends community events, and enjoys many other activities. Becki is quite a lady. The Volunteer of the Month photo is provided by Jenny White, Community Connections Facilitator for the Champaign County Board of Developmental Disabilities, in order to show how local individuals with disabilities shine through their service in the community.
