Rita Larson Memorial Ride a success

0

The 18th Annual Simon Kenton Pathfinders Bike Ride held on Sept. 10 is in the books. Each year we honor a local person who has taken an interest in the trail, and this year our ride was the Rita Larson Memorial Ride. We had a great turnout with over 150 cyclists from all over the state. The Simon Kenton Pathfinders would like to take this opportunity to thank the many community members who provided their time, food, and monetary donations. Without this support the ride would not be possible. We would also like to thank our many sponsors from Champaign and Logan counties, including the family of Rita A. Larson, Orbis Corporation, Mary Rutan Hospital, The Depot Coffee House, Dr. Bauer DDS/Dr. Beck DDS & Assoc., Perpetual Federal Savings Bank, CT Communications, Gil S. Weithman & family, The Peoples Savings Bank, CRSI, Tech II, Henderson Land Investment Co., McKeevers, NorEast Transport and Civista bank.

The purpose of this ride each year is to raise money for the maintenance of the bike trail in Champaign County as well as to continue the trail into Logan County. This year the trail from Railroad Street to state Route 296 has a new surface with chip, seal and fog to help riders have a smoother ride. The Pathfinders will continue the goal to resurface the trail into the city of Bellefontaine. This requires help from everyone. If you would like to donate to the resurfacing with a financial donation, please send it to Simon Kenton Pathfinders, P.O. Box 91 Urbana, Ohio 43078. Thank you again to everyone in the community for your continued support.
