Graham Elementary receives Ohio Arts Council grant

ST. PARIS – Graham Elementary was awarded a $24000 grant from the Ohio Arts Council to provide art education to students. Through this grant, students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades will have a trimester of art. They will develop art that will be displayed throughout the building.

Quote from Donna S. Collins, Executive Director, Ohio Arts Council:

“The Ohio Arts Council is pleased to provide a TeachArtsOhio grant award to Graham Elementary School. The grant will provide students with a year-long artist residency with professional teaching artist and educator, Dr. Jan Fedorenko. The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically. The OAC provides leadership and voice for the arts to transform people and communities. As a grant recipient Graham Elementary School is working to ensure the arts are an important part of the education of every child.”

Elementary Principal Chad Miller: “Graham Elementary currently does not have an art teacher. Without this grant, our students would not have the opportunity to learn art with any consistency. We are very fortunate to be able to work with Dr. Jan and see the wonderful art that our students will produce. While we would love to have a full-time art teacher, this grant allows us to work with a great partner to provide a much needed curriculum for students.”
