PAWS Animal Shelter (dog)

Hey folks, my name is “The Outlaw Josie Wales,” but they call me Josie for short. I’m a male Doberman/Terrier mix and I am sure a handsome boy. I am housebroken, I’m about 2 years old and I was brought here to Paws Animal Shelter as a stray.

I’m a good boy, but it does take me a little time to warm up to you humans. The staff here thinks maybe I’ve been mistreated in my life, so I may need to gain trust. I am a little choosy with my canine friends, but I get along with most. Please give me some time to adjust, ….the staff here at Paws have no idea what I’ve been through… and I can’t tell them.

Please stop out and meet me at PAWS. I will be waiting for my new humans and my new home. I can love you forever, if you’ll let me. Thanks for listening.

PAWS Animal Shelter (cat)

Please meet Washington. He was found wandering around the bike trial around Washington St. (now you know how he got his name) and was brought to PAWS. He is sweet quiet gentle cat. He is a big boy. He has had a tough life. He has been in some scraps which has left few tears in his ears but that just adds to his charm. Washington is current on vaccinations, tested negative for Feline Leukemia and has been neutered. Please stop in PAWS and meet Washington. I know you will fall in love with him.

Please visit our animals here at PAWS SHELTER in URBANA. Our address is 1535 St. Rt 36 W, Urbana, Ohio 43078; 937-653-6233; Email: [email protected]. Please consider helping our shelter with your donations.

Champaign County Animal Welfare League

“As graceful as any queen, with her head high in the air, and her long red tail arched in a perfect rainbow, my little dog walked down the table. With her warm eyes staring straight at me, on she came. Walking up to me, she laid her head on my shoulder.” You who have loved the book and the movie “Where The Red Fern Grows” will recognize this quote about Little Ann, the Redbone Coonhound. The Champaign County Animal Welfare League has our own Little Ann and we are calling her Fern.

Fern came to us as an unclaimed stray and has managed to capture our hearts. A more loving and sweeter dog, you will never find. Fern is approximately four-years old and weighs 41 pounds. She is fully-vetted but unfortunately found to be heart-worm positive. CCAWL has put Fern through her heart-worm treatment and we will retest her in three months. Right now, Fern is a “foster to adopt” dog which means she would be in your home and at the end of three months and a negative test, the adoption would be final. We are optimistic that Fern will recover fully.

Fern, as with all Champaign County Animal Welfare League’s (CCAWL) pets, has been heart-worm tested, fully vaccinated, wormed, and treated with flea and heart worm prevention. We are also vaccinating all of our dogs with the H3N2 Flu Vaccine. She has been micro-chipped and comes with her 2017 dog license.

Fern is a very, clean girl and never has accidents in her kennel. We believe, with very little effort, she would easily be house-trained if not already. She appears to be indifferent with cats, but a first meeting should be carefully observed. She gleefully greets adults and children with loving enthusiasm.

If you would like to meet Fern or any of our adoptable pets, please visit us at 3858 state Route 56, Mechanicsburg, OH 43044. We are open every day except Sunday and Tuesday and you may phone us at 937-834-5236 for our hours or check our webpage at www.champaigncoanimalwelfareleague.com. You may see a listing of our available pets at www.adoptapet.com or www.petfinder.com. Also “liking” us on Facebook, will give you a preview of our newest arrivals.

We require an approved application for all adoptions. You may fill out an application in house or download an application from our webpage. Our adoption fee is $150.00 cash or check.

When you adopt an animal from a shelter, like the Champaign County Animal Welfare League, you’re saving two lives, the life of the animal that you adopted and the life of the animal that’s going to take its place at the shelter. There are so many amazing animals waiting for a loving and caring home. For people who are looking for a purebred pet—studies have shown that over 25% of pets available for adoption at shelters are purebred—there are numerous breed specific rescue groups that focus on a particular dog or cat breed. Here at CCAWL, we have various breeds at any given time and animals are constantly being adopted, so we have new animals available every day.

Barely Used Pets

My name is Spike and I am a 2-year-old Husky Lab mix boy. I have already been neutered and I am up to date on my vaccines. They say I am a friendly dog and that I get along well with other dogs and children. I say “They are right! I love other dogs and kids!” When they say that I would make a great family member I say “Yes, yes yes!” I can’t wait to get my new forever family. Won’t you please come out and see me? My eyes don’t exactly match, but I guess that’s a cool thing 🙂

Please visit our website: www.barelyusedpets.com. Also, like us on Facebook at Barely Used Pets Rescue (put spaces between the words). We can always use donations and they are all of those basic supplies that we use so quickly. We are in real need of lots and lots of paper towels! If you can bring us some we would surely appreciate it. Spike says..”Thanks so much for considering me and helping Barely Used Pets help all of us little ones find our forever homes! OK…so what are you waiting for? Let’s go home!”
